Børge Mogensen originally designed the BM0488 Table Bench in 1958 as a companion piece to the BM0865 daybed; Carl Hansen & Søn is relaunching it as part of a growing collection. The piece is deliberately not tied to a single function: it serves as a bench in the entrance area or at the foot of the bed, as well as a sofa table or side table next to an armchair. It is made from solid oak, specifically from the particularly strong, knot-free inner part of the trunk, the heartwood. Traditional pegged joints and rounded edges define its look, while the double-woven rattan surface gives it its texture. Built this way, the table bench keeps its appearance for generations.
The BM0488 is available in two sizes: the long BM0488L and the short BM0488S. Both are made from oiled oak, with a double-woven rattan surface. There is no choice of material or finish for this model. The same piece with woven paper cord instead of rattan is sold under model number BM0489.
