The CH88P Dining Chair is an example of the way Hans J. Wegner explored different materials. The elegant combination of Upholstery, Wood and steel shows Wegner's ability to make minimalist forms appear soft and comfortable. Wegner originally developed the CH88P as a prototype with coloured Legs for the international Helsingborg Exhibition in Sweden in 1955. The chair went into production for the first time in 2014. The clever construction and stackable quality of the CH88P Dining Chair provide excellent functionality. The steel Frame combined with the wooden Backrest and seat create an elegant design and a comfortable Shape. The CH88P is available with a seat Cover in leather or Fabric, offering even greater versatility and comfort.
This version of the CH88P has a Frame in stainless steel; the seat is upholstered with foam, and the Backrest is made of solid Wood. The Wood is available in beech – soap-treated, lacquered, oiled or painted in one of the nine CHS Soft Colors (gloss level 5) – or in oak – soap-treated, lacquered, oiled, white-oiled, smoked-oil treated or black lacquered (NCS S9000-N, gloss level 20). Lacquered oak shows a clearly visible wood grain, while lacquered beech shows only minimal grain. The seat is covered in fabric categories 1 to 4 or leather categories A, B and C. Available accessories include a stacking protector and a matching connector set; the chair is stackable up to four units high.
