Signet Sanem upholstered bed

Sanem is an upholstered bed with a headboard that curves slightly backwards. The curved line offers support when sitting up without making the bed look heavy. A distinguishing feature of the model is the finely accentuated side panel: the sides of the headboard are underlaid, and the inner material emerges at the seam as a narrow edge.

This decorative seam can be set off in a contrasting colour — in leather or in a fabric from the Signet collection. The cover is always removable; in leather, Sanem is made as fixed upholstery. On request, Signet also makes the cover of the bed frame removable. Sanem was developed in the in-house design studio; the Signet collection is handmade in Germany.

• Cheek height: the cheek is the upholstered side wall of the bed frame — choose between 18 and 27 cm. The cheek houses a cushion pad for the slatted frame, adjustable in four positions: with the 18 cm cheek, to 5, 7.5, 10 or 12.5 cm; with the 27 cm cheek, to 14, 16.5, 19 or 21.5 cm. This lets you match the height of the mattress top edge to your mattress — the thicker the mattress, the lower the cushion pad. Anyone planning a tall mattress system should choose the 27 cm cheek. Both heights cost the same, and the overall height of the bed is unaffected.

Two bed drawer options

Two bed drawers are available, which differ fundamentally. Variant 1 is inserted into the finished bed: it consists of two parts that are joined together during assembly and covered with a hook-and-loop cover. The bed keeps its four regular legs. With a footprint of 96 to 176 × 186 cm at 14.5 cm height, Variant 1 offers more storage space but is not available in special lengths.

Variant 2 is part of the construction: four recessed metal legs support the bed and at the same time hold the drawer frame. Regular bed legs are therefore omitted, the bed frame is permanently covered, and the bed gets a floating look. The basic version consists of these four metal legs and the fabric-covered frame elements; the footprint measures 86 to 166 × 166 cm at 14.5 cm height. Variant 2 is also available for bed frames in 210 and 220 cm length.

Both drawers are open at the top and are supplied without a base — dispensable on smooth floors. For Variant 2, an insert base made of white-coated hardboard is available on request. Both require a foldable slatted frame.

Accessories

Three additions can be ordered at the same time. The LED reading light comes as a set of two lights and one power supply: warm white light at 3000 Kelvin, dimmable via a touch switch, on a flexible, black-sheathed gooseneck. The LEDs shine downwards as a reading light and upwards as ambient light. The bed has two USB-C ports on each side — one with 5V/1A for the phone, one with 5V/2A for the tablet.

The orientation light is also a set of two: slim LED strips measuring 23 × 2.1 × 2.1 cm, mounted on the lower edge of the bed cheek. A motion sensor switches them on and off automatically when getting out of bed. 230 volts, 2 watts; power cable and instructions included.

The Vince console is a floating shelf with pull-out, 30 × 30 cm at 11 cm height. It replaces the bedside table and leaves the floor beneath it free. The carcass is made of oak or walnut, solid or part-solid, according to the Signet colour range. It is priced as a pair, i.e. for both sides of the bed.
