The CH36 Dining Chair by Hans J. Wegner is crafted with great attention to detail in a simple and functional design. The 1962 design clearly reveals the influence that the furniture principles and craftsmanship of the American Shakers had on Wegner's work. The Legs of the CH36 taper both towards the floor and, at the rear Legs, slightly upwards, giving the chair an elegant appearance. The Backrest curves noticeably more at the top than at the bottom to optimise back support. The overall look is completed by the Frame and the seat, which is hand-woven from durable paper cord.
The CH36 has a Frame of solid Wood, a hand-woven seat of paper cord and a Backrest of veneer. It is available in nine Versions: soaped, lacquered, oiled or coloured lacquered beech, as well as soaped, lacquered, oiled, white-oiled or black-lacquered oak. The paper cord is available in natural and black, and a Seat cushion in leather is available at an extra cost. The same chair with Armrests is available as the CH37 model.
