Franz Fertig LUINO sofa bed
LUINO is the sofa bed whose armrest stays where you put it. Franz Fertig mounts it on grid joints: you first press the armrest inwards towards the seat surface to unlock the fitting, fold it outwards, then fix it by lifting and engaging it into one of numerous positions. This is the difference to the upholstered joints of the sister models — there, the armrest locks in place but gives way under greater pressure. The price list explicitly lists LUINO as the model with the fixable armrest.
Added to this are the angled cushions: two loose back cushions, cut straight and tapering diagonally towards the top. They follow the curve of the armrest instead of interrupting it as a straight cushion would — hence the calm, light overall impression despite the full sleeping function.
LUINO converts into a bed via a telescopic pull-out made of solid beech wood with a hand-crafted dovetail guide. The backrest folds forward on hinge straps to complete the sleeping surface. This results in a sleeping length of 212 cm at an overall depth of just 92 cm. Around 10 cm of clearance from the wall is needed for the conversion.
LUINO is available in two widths — 158 cm and 178 cm overall width, corresponding to 130 cm and 150 cm seat width. Both can be complemented with an integrated bed box, removable covers, a top mattress with bonnell spring core, or a seat surface raised by 3 cm.
