This elegant bentwood classic is a masterpiece of construction and craftsmanship: the sweeping bow, which forms the backrest and armrests at once, is bent into shape from a single piece of solid beech wood. Like the original model of the bentwood chairs, model no. 214, the 209 also consists of only six parts. Its aesthetic reduction combined with the organic shape makes it appear almost sculptural. The Swiss architect Le Corbusier was so taken with it that he used it in many of his buildings, including in 1927 at the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart. He confirmed that this chair "possesses nobility".
On the 210, both the seat and the backrest are upholstered: in the cane weave version, both surfaces are covered in cane weave, whereas on the 209 only the seat is. The chair stands on a four-legged frame and is available in two versions: seat and back in cane weave with a plastic support fabric beneath the seat (210 R), or with mirror upholstery (210 P). Plastic glides are included; felt glides are available for an additional charge. The wood is finished in Beech I; further stain shades and, for the 210 R, the DARK MELANGE cane weave are available for an additional charge.

Mirror upholstery: With mirror upholstery, only the inner side is upholstered – precisely the surface you sit and lean on. The back of the seat shell remains visible in wood or plastic. This keeps the chair light and slender while still noticeably improving seating comfort.
