Carl Hansen ML10097 Egyptian Table
Mogens Lassen designed the Egyptian Table after being impressed by the folding frames found in Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. In 1940, he first presented the table at the exhibition of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild. Beneath the table top sits a small brass latch: slide it aside and the table folds up and can be stowed away – a piece of furniture brought out when needed and otherwise taking up no space. Lassen is regarded as a pioneer of Danish functionalism, and the Egyptian Table embodies its essence: considered, purposeful design does not go out of fashion.
The table top of the ML10097 is made of veneer, the frame of solid wood; the folding mechanism is held by a brass slide latch. The table is made in two diameters: Ø 85 cm and Ø 100 cm. It is available in five versions: oak clear lacquered, oiled or white oiled, and walnut clear lacquered or oiled.
