The CH26 Dining Chair by Hans J. Wegner was put into production by Carl Hansen & Søn in close collaboration with the Hans J. Wegner Design Studio and in accordance with Wegner's original working design. The chair is part of a series of iconic chairs Wegner designed for Carl Hansen & Søn. In connection with the CH22 Lounge Chair, Wegner produced a working drawing in which the Shape of the lounge chair was transferred into a dining chair, the CH26. However, Wegner never made a prototype of the chair with an Armrest, and it remained unknown to the public for decades. In 2016 – the same year the CH22 was reintroduced – Carl Hansen & Søn finally brought the CH26 Dining Chair to life. With its organic shapes, refined Backrest and hand-woven seat, the CH26 resembles the lounge version. Its proportions make it ideal for extended sitting at the dining table or desk.
The CH26 has a Frame and Armrests in solid Wood, a hand-woven seat in paper cord and a Backrest in veneer. The Frame is available in oak soaped, clear lacquered, oiled, white oiled or black, in walnut clear lacquered or oiled, and in the oak/walnut combination clear lacquered or oiled — oak/walnut means the frame and cover cap are made of oak Wood, combined with Armrests and Backrest in walnut Wood. The paper cord is available in natural or black. As an accessory, Carl Hansen & Søn offers a Seat cushion in leather group A, exclusively in Loke 7050, Loke 7150 or Loke 7748.
