An elegant high dining chair that combines the generous seat shell of the Sheru chAIR with a tall base frame. Thanks to the new chAIR technology, the breathable shell chair offers high seating comfort and pleasant ventilation – at the tall dining table, at the kitchen island or in the meeting area. Two seat heights are available, 68.5 cm and 78.5 cm. Ideal for hours of conversation – with family, visiting friends, in meetings or at conferences.

The Sheru programme offers maximum variety and numerous applications: depending on the setting and style, the base frames can be individually configured – solid wood or tubular frames, four-leg or five-leg base crosses are all available. There is also a choice between relaxed or tailored upholstery. All covers are removable. All models follow the same design language. Even when combining different frames and variants, the overall appearance stays harmonious and cohesive as an ensemble.

Together with design trio EOOS, the Walter Knoll development team completely rethought the technology of a shell chair. The innovation of the chAIR technology lies in the seat shell: it contains hidden openings in the seat and back. In the seat area, straps are arranged in these openings in a palm-leaf pattern, creating a pleasantly springy seating feel. At the same time, the openings ensure good ventilation. After a long life cycle, all materials can be easily separated from one another and recycled by type.

The next generation, Sheru evo: Walter Knoll has further developed the Sheru chAIR with sustainability in mind. Sheru evo is part of Walter Knoll's evo concept. Material and construction have been fundamentally revised. What's new: on the evo models, the upholstery is worked directly into the cover. Thanks to this intelligent construction, Walter Knoll can dispense with adhesives entirely. This creates long-term added value and represents a consistent evolution of the existing concept.

General information

• The construction is based on the innovative chAIR technology: the plastic shell contains openings in the seat and back. In the seat area, straps are arranged in these openings in a palm-leaf pattern – breathable and comfortable. The plastic shell is made from 100% recycled plastic.
• Base frame: four-leg solid wood
• The white-pigmented oak and walnut-with-sapwood surface variants come with an aluminium frame and footrest in a matt bronze powder-coated finish. The flamed oak surface variant has a frame and footrest in a matt black powder-coated finish.
• Frame and cover are separable and recyclable
• Armrests closed and upholstered
• Note on upholstery appearance: due to the nature of the construction, slight rippling of the cover may occur with use as the materials stretch.
• Sheru chairs carry the GS mark for tested safety.
• Please note that the solid wood legs may contain sapwood, mirror grain and small ingrown knots. Colour and grain differences (plain or figured) within a single wooden leg are typical of the material.

Upholstery

• Relaxed upholstery look: two options are available for the upholstery construction – with the foam variant, the plastic shell is covered with moulded foam. With the evo variant, the 3D mesh, sewn to the cover, provides the upholstery in the seat and back.
• Tailored upholstery look: for the tailored look, the upholstery construction is standard moulded foam (foam variant).

Cover

• Foam upholstery variant: the cover can be removed from and refitted onto the moulded plastic shell by a specialist.
• Evo upholstery variant: the cover can be removed from and refitted onto the plastic shell without specialist knowledge (see the instructions for use for further information).
• All fabrics according to the matrix and all leathers can be used, except Safari, Paco and Saddle

Note: leather hides are selected by specialists according to strict guidelines and high standards. Leather naturally has both soft and firm areas of hide, which may also be used side by side. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use, which can lead to a certain degree of waves and creases (so-called seating hollows) – particularly noticeable in favourite spots. This settling process is largely complete after a few weeks; further stretching is minimal and barely noticeable. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a characteristic smell, which noticeably fades over the course of a few weeks and can be reduced faster through ventilation. Walter Knoll uses several hides for one upholstered set. No hide is identical to another: insect bites, small marks from fences or scuffles leave small scars in the cowhide that can reappear in the leather. Fattening folds are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not affect the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
