The Sheru range offers maximum variety and numerous applications: depending on the setting and style, the Base frames can be individually configured – choose from solid wood or tubular frames as well as four-leg or five-leg Base crosses. You can also choose between relaxed or tailored upholstery. All upholstery covers are removable. All models follow the same design language. Even when combining different frames and variants, the overall appearance remains harmonious and consistent.

Working together with design trio EOOS, the Walter Knoll development team completely rethought the technology of a shell chair. The innovation of the chAIR technology lies in the seat shell: it contains hidden openings in the seat and back. In the seat area, straps are arranged in a palm-leaf pattern within these openings, creating a pleasantly springy seating feel. At the same time, the openings ensure good ventilation. After a long life cycle, all materials can be easily separated from one another and recycled by type.

The next generation, Sheru evo: Walter Knoll has further developed Sheru chAIR with sustainability in mind. Sheru evo is part of Walter Knoll's evo concept. Material and construction have been fundamentally reworked. What's new: in the evo models, the upholstery is worked directly into the cover. Thanks to this intelligent construction, Walter Knoll can dispense with adhesives entirely. This creates long-term added value and represents a consistent further development of the existing concept.

• With solid wood feet finished with a natural hard wax, combined with an aluminium frame
• The white-pigmented oak and walnut-with-sapwood surface variants feature an aluminium frame with a matt powder-coated bronze finish. The flamed oak surface variant features a frame with a matt powder-coated black finish.
• Frame and cover are separable and recyclable
• Armrests: closed or upholstered
• Note on upholstery appearance: due to the construction, slight rippling of the cover may occur through material stretching during use
• Sheru chairs carry the GS mark for tested safety
• Please note that the solid wood feet may contain sapwood, mirror grain and small ingrown knots. Colour and grain differences (plain or figured) within a single wooden foot are typical of the material

Upholstery

• Relaxed upholstery look: two options are available for the upholstery construction. In the foam variant, the plastic shell is covered with moulded foam. In the evo variant, 3D-MESH sewn to the cover provides the upholstery in the seat and back.
• Tailored upholstery look: for the tailored look, the upholstery construction is standard moulded foam (foam variant)

Cover

• Foam upholstery variant: the cover can be removed from and refitted to the moulded plastic shell by a specialist
• Evo upholstery variant: the cover can be removed from and refitted to the plastic shell without specialist knowledge (see the instructions for use for further information)
• All fabrics according to the matrix and all leathers can be used, except Safari, Paco and Saddle

Note: leather hides are selected by specialists according to strict criteria and high standards. Leather naturally has soft and firm areas of hide, which may be used side by side. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use, which can lead to a certain amount of waviness and creasing (so-called seating hollows). Favourite seating spots show this particularly clearly. This adjustment process is largely complete after a few weeks; further stretching is minimal and inconspicuous. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a typical smell, which noticeably fades over a few weeks; airing the item can speed this up. Walter Knoll uses several leather hides for a single upholstered piece – no hide is identical to another. Insect bites, small marks from fences or fighting leave small scars on the cattle hide that can also be found in the leather. Fattening creases are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not affect the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
