The continuation of the popular Sheru range's typology: the elegant Sheru bar stool offers a pleasantly soft, upholstered seat at the bar, at a high dining table, or for short meetings in the modern New Work office. Walter Knoll offers a choice between a casual or a strict upholstery look. All covers can be removed by qualified personnel. Light, versatile and sustainable, the bar stool fits into a wide range of work and living environments.

The Sheru bar stool with backrest is available in two different seat heights, upholstered in leather, fabric, or a combination of both materials. Like all models in the Sheru family, the bar stool effortlessly combines work, living and wellbeing. Maximum variation and application options: the Sheru bar stool is part of a versatile family of chairs and armchairs that combine harmoniously with one another. All models follow the same clear design language, creating a homogeneous appearance across the entire family.

chAIR technology

Thanks to the innovative chAIR technology, the breathable bar stool offers high seating comfort and optimal ventilation. In doing so, Walter Knoll combines innovation with responsible use of materials. For the Sheru bar stool, Walter Knoll uses a minimal amount of material for an upholstered chair. After a long lifecycle, the individual materials can be easily separated and returned to single-material recycling streams.

The Sheru bar stool with backrest can be made in all fabrics and a wide range of leathers – combined or entirely in one material. The cover is removable. Frame and cover are separable and recyclable. Depending on the setting and style, you can choose between three different versions of the tubular steel base frame: matt powder-coated black, matt powder-coated bronze, and high-gloss chrome-plated. All versions have a diameter of 18 millimetres.

The Sheru range, consisting of chair, armchair and bar stool, offers maximum variation and application options. All models follow the same design language – even when combining different frames and variants, the overall appearance remains homogeneous as an ensemble.

General information

• The construction is based on the innovative "chAIR" technology: the plastic shell has openings in the seat and back. In the seat area, straps are arranged in a palm-leaf pattern within the openings – breathable and comfortable.
• The plastic shell is made from 100% recycled plastic.
• Tubular frame: tube diameter 18 mm.
• Frame and cover are separable and recyclable.

Upholstery

• Casual upholstery look: two options are available for the upholstery construction. In the foam variant, the plastic shell is fitted with moulded foam. In the evo variant, the 3D mesh, which is sewn to the cover, provides the padding in the seat and back.
• Strict upholstery look: for the strict upholstery look, the construction is fitted with moulded foam as standard (foam variant).

Cover

• Foam upholstery variant: the cover can be removed from and refitted to the moulded plastic shell by qualified personnel on site.
• Evo upholstery variant: the cover can be removed from and refitted to the plastic shell without specialist knowledge.

• Note on upholstery appearance: due to the design, slight waviness in the cover may occur through material stretching during use.

Note: leather hides are selected by specialists according to strict criteria and high testing standards. Leather naturally has soft and firm areas of hide, which may also be processed side by side. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use. This results, to a certain extent, in waves and creases (so-called seating hollows). Favourite seating spots show this particularly clearly. This adjustment process is largely complete after a few weeks. Further stretching is minimal and unobtrusive. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a typical odour. This noticeably diminishes over the course of a few weeks and can be accelerated by airing. Walter Knoll uses several hides for one upholstered seating group. No two hides are alike. Insect bites, small injuries from fences, or marks from fighting leave small scars on the cattle hide, which can be rediscovered in the leather. Feeding folds are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not affect the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
