Walter Knoll Ison Bench bench • various Sizes
A new interpretation of the classic bench: Ison. Light, minimal, complex. The upholstered bench lives the principle of modernism: less is more. It can stand freely in the room and radiates lightness. As a corner bench, sofa bench or dining bench – for Working and Living.
Lightness and comfort: Modern, minimalist. For Ison, Walter Knoll has developed a new version of the upholstered bench with a lighter base frame. The upholstered seating plane appears to float almost weightlessly on the elegant frame. Slender leg brackets support the generous upholstered surface – for sitting and for lying down.
Ison is available in various lengths and configurations as a corner bench or a straight bench. It offers comfortable space for sitting and lying down, achieved with a construction featuring micro pocket springs. Three back variants are available: Advanced, with distinctive top-stitched piping, and Classic and Classic-low (corner benches only), with a smooth look in two different heights. The precise finish of the seams underlines the craftsmanship quality.

Cold foam: Cold foam is a high-quality, shape-retaining upholstery foam distinguished by its particular elasticity and resilience. It adapts comfortably to the body without losing its shape. In high-quality upholstered furniture, cold foam ensures precise, comfortable and durably shape-retaining seating. After being under load, the material quickly returns to its original shape – this results in fewer permanent seat impressions, and the upholstery retains its characteristic shape.
Pocket springs: A pocket spring core consists of many individual springs, each housed in a separate textile pocket. This allows the springs to react independently of one another and adapt very precisely to the load placed on them by the body. This produces a differentiated, dynamic and particularly comfortable seating experience. At the same time, the spring core offers high elasticity and supports the upholstery, so that one does not sink in too deeply.
Note: The selection of leather hides is carried out by specialists according to strict specifications and high quality standards. Leather naturally has soft and firm sections of hide, which may also be processed alongside one another. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use. This results, to a certain extent, in waves and creases (so-called seat impressions). Favourite spots document this particularly clearly. This adaptation process is largely complete after a few weeks. Further stretching is minimal and inconspicuous. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a product-typical smell. This noticeably diminishes over the course of a few weeks and can be accelerated by ventilation. Walter Knoll processes several leather hides for one upholstery group. No hide is the same as another. Insect bites, small injuries from fences or fighting leave small scars on the cattle hide, which can be rediscovered in the leather. Fattening creases are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not affect the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
