The seat surface and back are pleasantly softly upholstered, while the gentle curves create an inviting and comfortable look. The feet in high-quality solid wood underline the high-quality design. The seat of the barstool takes up the harmonious design language of the 375 family: clear lines and the timeless elegance of mid-century modern style. The designers (the Walter Knoll team) presumably had an aperitif or lively conversation in the salon in mind when they created the original, the 375 armchair, in 1957. The 1950s were characterised by a spirit of optimism, joie de vivre and economic growth. A new prosperity and a progressive way of life shaped everyday life.

The 375 barstool is available in all fabrics as well as a wide range of leathers – either entirely in one material or combined. For fabric covers, the piping matches the cover as standard. For leather covers, the piping can be chosen in a different leather colour from the Walter Knoll collection for an additional charge. The base frame is made of oiled solid wood. Available in white-pigmented oak, flamed oak and walnut with sapwood content.

Cold foam: Cold foam is a high-quality, dimensionally stable upholstery foam distinguished by its particular elasticity and resilience. It adapts comfortably to the body without losing its shape. In high-quality upholstered furniture, cold foam ensures precise, comfortable and durably shape-retaining seating. After being under load, the material quickly returns to its original shape – this results in fewer lasting seat impressions, and the upholstery retains its characteristic shape.

Note: the selection of leather hides is carried out by specialists according to strict guidelines and high inspection standards. Leather naturally has soft and firm sections of hide, which may also be processed side by side. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use. This causes a certain amount of waves and creases (so-called seat impressions) to develop. Favourite seating spots show this particularly clearly. This settling process is largely complete after a few weeks. Further stretching is minimal and barely noticeable. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a characteristic smell typical of the material. This noticeably fades over the course of a few weeks. Airing the item can speed this up. Walter Knoll processes several leather hides for a single upholstered piece. No two hides are alike. Insect bites, small injuries from fences or marks from fighting leave small scars on the cattle hide, which you may rediscover in the leather. Growth folds are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not impair the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
