Bento lounge module by Varaschin
The Bento collection is inspired by elegant bento boxes, the Japanese lunch boxes made with particular attention to colour combinations and the arrangement of the food. It is a system of modular sofas in which rectangular, trapezoidal and pentagonal bases can be combined freely, creating a great variety of compositions.

The distinctive 45° form of the base profile and two wide foot variants bring Bento into line with a modern, multicultural style. The back and armrest modules, with their simple, geometric design, can be positioned on the bases as you wish and offer new functions, such as the inclined backrest module that lets you create a comfortable chaise longue. The materials used are marine okoumé wood, weatherproof outdoor fabrics and Dryfeel® foam for the upholstery.

An essential design without edges makes the Bento sofas particularly inviting, with colourful cushions resting on them like soft clouds as backrests or armrests. With the modular elements of this collection you can create numerous sofa combinations that lend style to islands of relaxation in the garden, on the terrace, on the veranda, by the pool, in lounge areas and in showrooms. By adding or moving new modules, different layouts can be created from time to time to adapt the outdoor area as you wish. Also suitable for use near the sea.

Designer Fabio Calvi (1969) studied at Brunel University of West London and completed his architecture degree at the Polytechnic University of Milan. He was assistant to the architect Gianfranco Frattini and then to Ferruccio Laviani. For eight years he was artistic director for all of Flos's exhibitions, stores and events.

Outdoor use
The collection is resistant to sunlight and rain. The furniture should be maintained regularly and protected in the event of particularly bad weather conditions (ice, hail, temperature fluctuations, persistent damp, extreme heat or cold). The service life and durability of our items depend on careful care. With aluminium and steel products (430, 304EP, 316), even where surface treatment makes them suitable for outdoor installation, it is essential to remove any water that has collected in the products. All items are provided with the technical drill holes required for protective treatments. Water entering and collecting can lead to rust forming inside the tubes.

The product is suitable for use in a maritime climate and for installation next to chlorinated swimming pools. Recommendations: proper maintenance and cleaning are essential in order to preserve the integrity of the components for as long as possible. To keep the products in good condition at all times, they should be washed weekly with plenty of salt-free water in order to remove as far as possible the salt that attacks them. Only in this way can the product reliably be kept in good condition.
