Inspiration

When conceiving KIDA, Burks had the vision of creating a design that appears open and less closed. „It is my mission to inspire the team to find unusual ways of giving the collection a fresh and distinctive DEDON character. When that succeeds, it is like magic“, says Burks.

New for 2024: the KIDA armchair

The KIDA armchair takes up the same open, organic design language as the Hanging Lounger from the collection of the same name. The chair's aluminium frame rests on powder-coated stainless steel legs and is supported by curved, branching struts that outline an extremely ergonomic yet playful form. Available in the colour variants glare touch, ease touch and shade touch, the chair makes a bold statement and complements the DEDON dining tables outstandingly well.

Features

With its organically shaped frame in powder-coated aluminium, KIDA is light yet exceptionally stable. The collection is wrapped in the innovative DEDON Fiber 'touch', which offers a particularly soft feel. Available in three striped colour variants, including the lively, multicoloured 'glow touch'. Stephen Burks describes the colour palette: „When I saw DEDON's sophisticated new colour developments and how well they connect the entire DEDON collection, I wanted to incorporate as much as possible into my new project. The logic in this design lies in the wrapping of the graphic frame; the colouring emerged more intuitively.“

Designer

In his innovative and award-winning designs, Stephen Burks often addresses the role of handwork. He has worked with craftspeople and artisans worldwide and believes in a pluralistic vision of design that embraces all cultural perspectives. His ongoing project "Stephen Burks Man Made" builds a bridge between authentic production in developing countries, industrial manufacturing and contemporary design. Stephen's work has already been exhibited internationally in museums in New York, Atlanta and Chicago.

DEDON fibre is not only extremely weather-resistant and unaffected by cold, heat, sun, rain or snow, it also has exceptional colour and structural stability and is impervious to chlorinated and salt water.
