With its varied mix of teak, fabric and fibre, AIIR brings together precise craftsmanship and exceptional comfort. The result is a particularly elegant and purist design. The frames of the AIIR armchairs and easy chairs are made of high-quality teak, while the seats are made from DEDON synthetic material. The furniture of the AIIR collection is best cleaned with lukewarm water and a natural soap that is gentle on the material.
The inspiration for AIIR lay in the combination of geometry and nature: a birch wood in which the wind streams through the slender, tall and pale trunks — taken up in the vertical struts of the seat shell. The warm earth and clear air of this sparse yet defined landscape — echoed in the colour range of the collection.
Lightness and clarity are the core elements that define AIIR. The airy openings of the backrest, which continue into the outer ends of the armrest, give the clean, precise design something graphic. At the same time the curved seat — with or without a cushion — offers comfortable support.
"Our aim was to develop a chair for the outdoor area that can cross the 'barrier' of a window and be used indoors just as well," explain the designers. "In this way we were able to create a continuous landscape of interior and exterior spaces." Sonja van der Hagen, creative director at DEDON, says: "With AIIR, Gam Fratesi have developed a very special collection — geometric, charming and timeless.
