B&B Italia Erica garden chair / armchair 61 cm

The Erica armchair is an innovative combination of extruded and die-cast aluminium. It offers a high level of seating comfort thanks to ergonomically shaped seat cushions and, with its low weight and elegant design, suits both public and private settings. The lacquered frames are combined with a weave of synthetic straps that has a high-strength inner core and was developed specifically for outdoor use.

Fabrics without treatment (AGATE - EFESO - ELIDE - LESIA - LINDOS - LIPARI - SAMOS)

These fabrics underline the comfort of the products, as they are comparable to indoor covers in softness and breathability, even though the fibres used are stabilised polypropylene (PP - Agate, Efeso, Elide, Lesia, Lipari, Samos) or polyester (PL - Lindos) for outdoor use. Furniture covered in these fabrics requires more careful maintenance, as it absorbs water even though the waterproof inner cover does form a certain barrier. Under extreme conditions (heavy and prolonged rain) there is a risk of water penetrating the cushions.

Fabrics with a water-repellent treatment (ECATE - ELCE - EOS - LEILA - LOREO - SILEA)

The water-repellent treatment is permanent and can only be used on polyester fabrics (PL - Elce, Loreo, Silea) or on acrylic fabrics (PC - Ecate, Eos, Leila). Its greatest advantage is that the fabric fibres become completely impermeable without the appearance, handle, effect or breathability of the fabric being affected in any way. As the fabric is water-repellent it does not become damp, but this does not mean that the fabric is impermeable, since its reverse is not given the waterproof treatment. The acrylic fabrics (PC - Ecate, Eos, Leila) emphasise a softness comparable to indoor covers.

Fabrics with a water-resistant treatment (ELEO - ELETTO - EPEO - ERIA - EVO)

These fabrics are also stabilised polypropylene for outdoor use. The difference from the untreated fabrics is that their reverse is given a waterproof treatment: a polyurethane film is applied to the back of the fabric, ensuring that no water can pass through. The visible side becomes damp, while the inner side is protected against liquids penetrating. Please note that waterproof fabrics are not 100% impermeable; if the fabrics are frequently and lengthily exposed to water (e.g. in heavy rainfall), protective tarpaulins should be used to protect the product and to prevent water penetrating through the seams and wetting the upholstery. The polyurethane film remains stable even after numerous wash cycles and can therefore be described as a permanent finish.

Waterproof fabrics (ALCEO)

Alceo is a waterproof fabric from the nautical sector with high resistance to weathering, germs, abrasion and stains, which also makes it suitable for contract use. It is a waterproof fabric that prevents water from penetrating. The textile was developed specifically for outdoor use without particular care effort: a damp sponge is enough to remove stains, dry dirt can simply be brushed off. Alceo is able to retain its original appearance with minimal care and prevents water from penetrating the cushions.
